| Quote: | Recently, the President has signed into law Republic Act 9492, an act
rationalizing the celebration of holidays, that mandates shifting to the
nearest Monday most holidays, except those with religious significance.
Thus, next month, the celebration of the martyrdom of Benigno Aquino,
which falls on August 21, will be observed on August 20, a Monday.
Also, the National Heroes' Day, which is celebrated on the last Sunday
of August, will be observed, instead, on August 27, a Monday.
In short, there will be two (2) long weekends for the month of August.
Exempted from the said law are holidays with religious importance such
as:
1. Holy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter Sunday;
2. Eid'l Fitre (October 13);
3. All Saints' Day (November 1);
4. Christmas Day (December 25);
5. New Year's Eve (December 31); and
6. New Year's Day (January 1)
You may want to adjust your schedules and vacations early and enjoy your
long weekends. | :icon_brb: _________________
